SURROUNDINGS: LA PUEBLA DE LOS INFANTES

83 kilometres far from Seville is located the municipal term of La Puebla de los Infantes, inside of the region of the Sierra Norte. Its emplacement is in a valley surrounded con mountains .

SPACE: 157 km2

La Puebla de los Infantes lacks no monuments. The first one is the church of Nuestra Señora de las Huertes, of Mudejar style that dates of the XVIth century, though it was reformed two centuries later. The following interesting point is the hermitage of santa Ana, of the XVth century, and the hermitage of Santiago, which was constructed on the ruins of a former castle. By the end you can delight yourself con the building that crowns the municipality. The Castle, constructed in the XIIIth, is located in the highest part of the village and is surrounded by fields fulfilled con fields and mountains that belong to the Nature reserve of the Sierra Norte, conout forgetting the beautiful entry of the village Peñaflor.

GASTRONOMY: Earth of hunts par excellence, the culinary tastes of the puebleños are the stews of meat of major hunt, as the partridge con pepper in piqué and the deer in seasoning. But the most famous plate is conout any doubt, the pheasant.

HOLIDAYS AND FAIRS

CABALGATA DE LOS REYES MAGOS (5th January): Traditional cavalcade of the Biblical kings where candies and gifts are distributed by the streets of the village, ending con the visit of the kings to the elders' club.

?LAS CANDELAS? PARTY (closer weekend to 1 st February): the villagers take wood from the fields to ignite and feed the bonfires during the night. These big bonfires are crowned con a doll of straw or other materials that has a picaresque message. The most awaited moment comes con the burning of the doll. Then the party begins and everybody enjoy the tasty sopaipas con chocolate. The Para Motors's concentration is celebrated at same time.

CARNIVAL: The carnival week begins con the ? murgas ? of the village, encouraging its streets con songs based on events happened during the whole year. The " Mascarones ? are the typical disguises, old clothes hidden the body. The party centres on the "Domingo de la Piñata".

HANDCRAFTS AND GASTRONOMY MARKET: The whole town shows their typical products to the visitors.

HOLY WEEK: during these days villagers go out in procession all over the town. The traditional groups of people around a church and most of the times around a religious image, called ? cofradías ? take these images out. The sculptures represent several moments of Jesus Christ's Passion: The Borriquita (Jesús arriving to Belen in the donkey), Nuestro Padre Jesús in the madrugá on Holy Thursday, la Vera-Cruz on Holy Friday, la Soledad on Saturday and El Resucitado (Resurrection) y la Virgin del Carmen on Resurrection´s Sunday.

FLOWER OFFERING TO NTRA. SEÑORA DE LAS HUERTAS: on the penultimate Sunday of May use to be the date to honouring the mistress of the village.

PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR TO NTRA. SEÑORA DE LAS HUERTAS: the first Sunday of June is a day of living together for all the villagers, close to the hermitage of the virgin the pilgrimage begins at eight o'clock in the morning con the holy mass in the church. Then, the pilgrims go con the simpecado up to the hermitage.

CORPUS CHRISTI: holiday of the Santísima Trinity on Thursday, following the eighth one of Pentecost.

VELÁ OF SANTA ANA: a party is celebrated to the feet of the hermitage of Santa Ana.

HOLIDAY IN HONOR TO NTRA. SEÑORA DE LAS HUERTAS (15-18 August): the former bulls fair has turned nowadays into a party in a place where villagers and visitors spend very good moments of leisure.
